CTSS IPB University Holds Board Meeting 2021

The other members also congratulated CTSS on the achievements of CTSS so far. They hope that in the future CTSS will be even better. Building collaborations with various parties both at national and international levels, utilizing the SDG network owned by IPB to develop CTSS, opening networks with the private sector for training knowledge development.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Damayanti as the head of CTSS gave a material presentation on the activities that have been carried out by CTSS from July 2020 – May 2021. Prof. Damayanti said that CTSS has 3 groups of activities, namely Knowledge Platform, Research Program, and Transformational Leadership.

Center for Sustainable Science and Transdisciplinary Studies (CTSS) Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) IPB University held an online board meeting, 20/5. The participants of board meeting are Prof. Dr. Anas Miftah Fauzi, M.Eng, Dr. Ir. Soeryo Adiwibowo, MS, Dr. Ir. Ernan Rustiadi, M.Agr, Prof. Dr. Ir. Iskandar Z Siregar, M.For.Sc, Meinhard Gans, M.Sc, Huub Mude, PhD, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ani Mardiastuti, M.Sc, Prof. Hussin Alatas, Prof. Damayanti Buchori, Dr. Rilus A. Kinseng, and Prof. Suria Tarigan.

In the first of the meeting, Prof. Damayanti introducing Prof. Dr. Ir. Ani Mardiastuti, M.Sc as a new member of the board in CTSS. Lecturer and Researcher at the Department of Forest Resources Conservation and Ecotourism, Faculty of Forestry and Environment IPB University. Her research is on biodiversity, wildlife conservation, protected area management, urban ecosystems, and the ecology of birds such as birds.

After introducing a new member of board Prof Damayanti was presenting CTSS progress report. She said CTSS has 3 groups of activities, namely Knowledge Platform, Research Program, and Transformational Leadership. A knowledge platform is a platform for generating and disseminating knowledge. There are many discussion series of CTSS. The participants of the series discussion come from national and international such as various institutions, government, NGOs, colleges, communities, and citizens. The research programs that CTSS has been carrying out so far included transdisciplinary and sustainability such as sustainability of small islands conservation, and biodiversity; strengthening forest governance; and gender issues. The last program in CTSS is transformational leadership. This program trying to reach the young generation. The activities of the program such as essay contests and internships.

In the knowledge platform, CTSS has a new program. It is a podcast-“BeNing”. Podcast BeNing (Bersama heNing) is a CTSS an audio podcast. The name BeNing was chosen with the intention of letting listeners find silence amidst the hubbub of life. Thus, the listener can have clarity of thought and clarity of heart.

The presentation of the progress report from Prof. Damayanti received appreciation from all members. They are very proud of the results that have been achieved by CTSS. Dr. Ir. Ernan Rustiadi, M.Agr said, “CTSS is the youngest center in IPB, has significant progress compared to other centers”.

He hope in the future CTSS could make the connection with any other institutions, built an international network. He also hope the connection with SDGs Network in IPB could involve economic science in CTSS, so it can further strengthen CTSS.

Prof. Anas also advise CTSS can collaboration with MSM to hold webinar in sustainable business development. He hope MSM can support CTSS in discussions and other activities. Mr Huub and Gans hope the collaboration between CTSS ad MSM could continue. They hope CTSS and MSM can collaborate to develop hybrid teachings such as making videos, modules, and training in sustainability and transdisciplinary approach.
