Improving the Livelihood of Smallholders in Emerging Economies

The T20 Side Event - Task Force Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture

Improving the livelihood of smallholders in emerging economies

The position of smallholder farmers in emerging economies is under pressure. Urbanisation and globalisation are driving diet shifts and paving the way for new retailing formats such as supermarkets. As the smallholder segment is not able to adapt to this changing food landscape, demand is being fulfilled by fast rising imports. The question remains how the smallholder segment can become part of these new and dynamic markets. How can we design an efficient agriculture ecosystem that is inclusive of smallholder farmers?

Since the role of smallholder farmers is crucial in ensuring food security and sustainable agriculture, this topic deserves the attention of our Task Force 4. As a part of the Indonesian T20 – Task Force 4 on Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture, Maastricht School of Management (MSM) together with the Center for Transdisciplinary and Sustainability Sciences (CTSS) cordially invite you to the webinar Improving the Livelihood of Smallholders in Emerging Economies which will be held on:
